NIFT Situation Test is conducted for two hours. Your performance will be assessed based on the following parameters
Colour scheme
Space visualization
Construction skill
Innovative and creative use of given material
Finesse of the model
Composition of elements
Overall presentation
You will given a question to design a model with the materials provided and you will be allowed to use any additional or outside material at the time of making the model. After the model is finished you need to explain it in English language. Here are few tips that can help you to perform well in Situation Test
You can practice for the situation test of NIFT by making different models at home.
Improve your observation skills by analyzing different objects.
You must use different kinds of materials while experimenting with various models.
List of materials that students can use for practice are:
Glaze Papers
Plasticine Clay
Copper Wire
Ivory Sheets,
Cardboard
Thermocol (thick And Thin)
Kite Papers
Handmade Sheet
Coloured Clay
Cellophane
Fabric
Thread
Ribbon
Straw
Aluminum Foil
Aluminum Sheet
Rubber Band
Thumb Pins
Yes, the performance in Situation Test has 20% weightage, Creative Ability Test has 50% weightage and General Ability Test has 30% weightage. So the marks scored in Situation Test will determine your rank along with the marks scored CAT and GAT. You may even disqualify in Situation if you do not explain the model you have designed in English language. As the course of instruction will be in English you need to demonstrate the designed model in English, if you use any other language then you will be disqualified, As there is weightage for GAT, CAT and Situation Test you need to perform well in all tests so that you will secure a decent rank in NIFT Entrance Examination.
