Hello Shagun, Based on 2018 last round closing ranks, you can only get NIFT Srinagar because that had the last closing rank of 2356 and in 2017 the closing rank was 2696 for general category. You might have to wait till the final round because your turn would come at last I think. I have provided the closing ranks from the previous year. check it out and then finalize your course and decision because changing your course can land you in a little bit better NIFT.

Hello Khushi, You can get fashion communication easily at NIFT Kannur(2018 SC closing rank after the final round was 5358), NIFT Bhubaneshwar(2018 SC closing rank after the final round was 5609), NIFT Jodhpur(2018 SC closing rank after the final round was 5498)and NIFT Raebarreily(2018 SC closing rank after the final round was 5735). I would suggest you wait till final round because you mightn't get the seat in the first round but eventually you will get the seat in further rounds.

Common merit rank is more important, as you are called for counselling on its basis. Category Merit Rank is for reserved quota seats. So if you’re a general, your category merit rank doesn't hold much importance.

Each centre allots 30 seats for every course out of which 7-8 seats r for obc's,15 for generals and 5 and 4 for SC n ST respectively.CMR shows your overall rank in the entrance whereas category rank shows where do you stand among your category people.

You are called in the counselling according to your Common Merit Rank(CMR). Now, if you belong from General category, Category Rank is of no use to you. But if you are eligible for reservation in any category, Category Rank is of utmost importance to you. Because then, you will get preference according to the numbers of vacant seats in your category. Category Rank is vital only for reserved candidates.

Hello AV, category rank of 48 in NIFTMFM is an excellent result. On the basis of last year cutoff for NIFTs, you'll get any course in any college of your choice. If not in the 1st round, you can easily get it in the 2nd round. I suggest you go for FD in NIFT delhi(2018 OBC Closing rank 343). I suggest you don't get nervous if you don't get the seat in the 1st round and wait for the next round.
