Hello Pawan, You can easily get Fashion design in NIFT Kannur(2018 OBC Closing rank 2128). I would suggest you better NIFT like NIFT Chennai(2018 OBC Closing rank 1281), Gandhinagar(2018 OBC Closing rank 1188) and Hyderabad(2018 OBC Closing rank 1679) because they are better than NIFT Kannur and they will have quality students and you would get a better competitive environment.

Hello Anjali, Forgive me. There have been serious miscalculations by me. I Checked the wrong data. I checked the CMR, not the category rank. I rechecked it again and concluded that you will get fashion design in NIFT Jodhpur(2018 OBC closing rank after the final round was 3326), NIFT Kangra(2018 SC closing rank after the final round was 3159). But if you choose apparel design you can get NIFT Kolkata(2018 SC closing rank after the final round was 3459). But you need to wait till the last round because you mightn't get the seat in the first round but you'll eventually get it in the next rounds.

The counselling process and the seat allocation process is always conducted on the basis of Category rank.
The ranks that would be provided as the closing rank of a particular stream are the category ranks.
And there is no separate counselling for that.

Everyone is called for counselling on the basis of their common merit rank.

Now some seats are reserved for obc,sc,st,etc.

So lets say all the students under 5000 cmr have done counselling but there will be seat reserved for you when you come for counselling if all the obc seats are not filled.

Thats how the category system quota works.

Hello Saba, Based on your CMR and 2018 cutoff, you won't get B.Des in Fashion design, Accessory design, Leather design, textile design in any colleges if you are a general category candidate. But if you have any home state NIFT like Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, and Bhubaneshwar, then you can easily get fashion and accessory design on the basis of home state quota. As you have not specified your category and your native state it's very tough to predict your college. I suggest you give me some details like your category and native state.

With this rank it will be tough to get NIFT in Bangalore or Delhi and even Mumbai. With this rank you can expect colleges like NIFT Patna, Bhuvneshwar, Hyderabad or may be Chennai.

If you are okay with NIFT's othe than Bangalore or Delhi then it's fine.
