iwant to join IAF as a dietetian or nutritionist?

sadafreen356 18th Jan, 2025

To join the Indian Air Force (IAF) as a dietitian or nutritionist, you would need to apply for a position within the medical branch of the IAF after completing a recognized degree in Nutrition and Dietetics; currently, there is no specific entry route dedicated solely to dietitians, so you would likely need to apply for a medical officer position and then specialize in nutrition within the service.

  • Educational Qualification:

You must have a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field from a recognized university.

  • Selection Process:

AFCAT Exam: You may need to appear for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) depending on the specific position you apply for.

  • Medical Examination: A thorough medical examination is mandatory.
  • Interview: You may be called for an interview with IAF officials.

Potential career paths within the IAF as a nutritionist:

  • Providing nutritional counseling to air force personnel: This could include designing meal plans for pilots, ground crew, and other personnel based on their specific needs and training demands.
  • Managing mess facilities: Overseeing the nutritional quality of food served at air force bases.
  • Sports nutrition support: Advising athletes and sports teams on optimal nutrition for performance enhancement.

Wishing you a great future ahead!!!

Im pursuing BSc in nursing after that I want to become a nutritionist, which course should I do MSc in nutrition and dietetics or a PG diploma in nutrition and dietetics ?

Nitin Kumar 22nd May, 2024

MSc in Nutrition and Dietetics:

  • Duration: Typically 2 years
  • Depth of study: More in-depth exploration of scientific principles of nutrition, metabolism, and their impact on health. Often includes research opportunities.

  • Career options: Broader range of opportunities, including clinical practice, public health nutrition, research, education, and food service management.

  • Eligibility: Usually requires a Bachelor's degree in a science field (like nursing) with a minimum GPA.

PG Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics:

  • Duration: Typically 1 year

  • Depth of study: Focuses on practical application of nutritional knowledge for clinical or community settings.

  • Career options: Geared towards clinical practice or specific areas like sports nutrition. May require additional qualifications for research or some public health roles.

  • Eligibility: May have slightly less stringent eligibility requirements compared to MSc programs.

If you want to focus on clinical practice or a specific area, a PG Diploma might be sufficient. If you are interested in research, public health, or a broader career path, an MSc is a better choice.

prasithagourisankar 19th Jul, 2022

I think that you did not study mathematics at the intermediate level. Biology, Physics and Chemistry are your major subjects. Also you got good marks in AP Entrance exam. So you can either go for any courses shown below:

1. MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, or BDS or Pharmacy courses or Naturopathy or Yoga Science

2. Any engineering branch as per your score

3. BSc courses in allied subjects like, food technology, BSc Anatomy, BSc radiology, BSc optometry etc.

what course I want to study to become a nutritionist

Sakshi Singh 18th Jul, 2022

Hello,

Nutritionist is a person that advises children, men and women of different age groups related to the food pattern, diet, nutrition, and other related things.

Students after their 12th must opt for nutrition courses as their undergraduate course. Some of the courses are B.Sc. in Nutrition and Dietetics, B.Sc. in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, or certificate courses.

The scope for nutritionist and dieticians have increased in India. After UG courses students can either continue their further studies or opt for jobs like Clinical Dietician, Pediatrician, Sports dietician, Community dietician, etc.

Hope it helps.
