Which tier 2 colleges would be best for PGDM/MBA in Operations in terms of placements(other than NITIE,SIOM)?
Operations management is a field that can, on occasion, be misconstrued due to its multidisciplinary nature. Be that as it may, its capacities structure the lynchpin of organizations the world over and achievement can regularly lay soundly on its shoulders. The MBA in operations management is a typical specialization among driving business colleges the world over. Anyway, what is operations management and what makes a decent operations manager?
Operations management is chiefly concerned with planning, organizing and supervising in the contexts of production, manufacturing or the provision of services. As such, it is delivery-focused, ensuring that an organization successfully turns inputs to outputs in an efficient manner. The inputs themselves could represent anything from materials, equipment and technology to human resources such as staff or workers.
An MBA in operations management or a specialization in a related field, such as logistics or supply chain management, should help students to enter the industry by developing the requisite skill set or to help those already in the industry to widen their knowledge and push on into a business leadership role.
Studying an MBA in operations management commonly offers a global perspective on industry trends and an awareness of any financial regulations or political uncertainties that could impact an organization. Indeed, risk management, getting to grips with the industry’s inherent complexities and responding well to change will be a strong consideration for students during their course.
Emphasizing the importance of strategic thinking is also a cornerstone of many leading operations management programs, something that should enable graduates to ensure their organization stays ahead of its competition.
Tier 2 institutes which are renowned for their specialisation in Operations Management are:
Institute |
Average Salary Package(Lakhs per annum) |
NITIE |
19.77 |
SIOM |
10.80 |
IIT Bombay |
20.8 |
NMIMS Mumbai |
17.6 |
IIT Delhi |
16.54 |
All the best!!!

Is PGDM in Operations from goa institute of management good?As i am having 3.5 years of work experience.what are the average packages for PGDM in operations?
HI...
Goa Institute of Management or more famously called as ‘GIM’/ ‘God’s own B-school’’ is a good choice- recently it came in top 20 emerging B-schools in India. The curriculum is a good mix of regular lectures, case studies, field trips, real-time assignment(for some subjects you work with professors acting as consultants for industry, government of Goa, etc), etc.
On fun-part, there are various clubs which you can join based on your interest and academic orientation (MECCA for Marketing, HRiday for HR and so on). In addition to this, the natural beauty of Goa in to be enjoyed with scenic background of the campus and some real good places around the campus to explore with your gang.
In terms of package, the average salary has been in terms of 8–9 lakhs pa and fees has been increased recently to 14+ but then there are several companies coming during placement paying you more than 15 LPA. Don’t forget the fact that batch size of GIM is 240 and not 120 or so as is normal in other B-schools(and hence low average salary in GIM). Also if you study good you are eligible to receive scholarship from the college.
Best luck
