Optometrists can handle nearly all the medical aspects of ophthalmology. They can prescribe medications and treat eye diseases but they do not perform surgery.
When patients develop cataracts, optometrists can help them navigate the surgical course, and an optometrist practice situation often dictates his or her specific role in patient care.
Hope it helps.
Good Luck!
I would like to tell you that both BSc. Optometry and Bachelor of Optometry are same courses. Some universities call it as BSc. Optometry and some have given it the name under bachelor's degree.
It is a full time undergraduate Optometric course of 3 years which is divided into six semesters of study.
The basic eligibility for BSc Optometry course is a candidate who should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream.
As both BHMS and Optometry are full time undergraduate courses, so you cannot pursue both at the same time.
You can just go for one course at a time, so choose wisely and totally as per your interest area.
Both the courses have amazing career opportunities ahead, so it depends upon what you want to learn and become.
