Organic chemistry
Hi aspirant,
If you are a JEE(Main+Advanced) or NEET aspirant then you might have heard the organic chemistry is the most scoring paper and indeed it is. Therefore it is very important to learn it properly. Here I am giving you few tips to improve your organic chemistry.
Organic chemistry would have been a jungle had there not been structures and nomenclature. You need to know how to draw structure and name a compound.
You should remember the name reactions very well and should be able to recognise a reaction instantly. JEE and NEET examination are all about speed and accuracy in organic chemistry.
Organic chemistry is like a pyramid, So the top will collapse without a strong base. You should not skip the beginning and study it properly as it is the foundation for others.
Learning Organic Chemistry requires problem practice. You should attempt all NCERT questions, then your reference book exercises and hit the past year papers. Spend all the extra time you save from theory for organic chemistry into solving problems. Read NCERT thoroughly and ensure that not a single line is left unstudied.
While studying organic chemistry we encounter a number of reagents. Some are reducing agents(LiAlH4), some oxidize(O3), while some dehydrate.(conc. H2SO4). Know what they do, make a list, and remember them.
More than half of organic chemistry is based on acid-base reaction? You can call them Electrophile and Nucleophile if you like. Once you know how they work then organic chemistry will be easier for you.
At last I would say that it involves discipline, doing problems, focusing on learning concepts, and staying on top of the material to do better in organic chemistry and you can do that. Remember NCERT is must and you should not skip it thinking it to be easy. Rather read it thoroughly even single line and solve its excercise even if it seems easier to you.
Wish you all the best.
Benzonitrile is the chemical compound with the formula C6H5(CN), abbreviated PhCN. This aromatic organic compound is a colorless liquid with a sweet almond odour. It is mainly used as a precursor to the resin benzoguanamine.
Synonyms- BENZONITRILE , 100-47-0, Cyanobenzene, Phenyl cyanide , Benzenenitrile
Density: 1 g/cm³
Average Molar mass: 103.12 g/mol
Chemical formula: CHN
Phenylacetonitrile is a nitrile that is acetonitrile where one of the methyl hydrogens is substituted by a phenyl group. It has a role as a pheromone and an animal metabolite. It is a nitrile and a member of benzenes. It derives from an acetonitrile.
Synonyms- Phenylacetonitrile , Benzeneacetonitrile, 2-Phenylacetonitril, BENZYL CYANIDE, 140-29-4 , Benzyl nitrile , alpha-Tolunitrile, alpha-Cyanotoluene , Benzylnitrile.
Hello Aspirant,
If you want to achieve good marks in Organic Chemistry then you have to understand it like Mathematics because it is just similar to Mathematics or even we can say that just names are different and concepts are same.
To understand organic chemistry you should understand each and every concept regarding different reactions as in maths you have to be familiar with every number and operators(+,-,*, etc.) because organic chemistry is totally based on different kinds of reactions. You should be familiar with all the name reactions like Wurtz reaction, fittig reaction, and so on and then practice more and more question which will increase your efficiency and develop a clarity of that reaction in your mind which is very "must have" thing for organic chemistry because in this field you should know that where to apply which reaction. While solving the question related to Organic chemistry aware of bonds because one incorrect bond between two element will make your whole reaction failed as in mathematics, one incorrect sign can make your full solution wrong because finally you get wrong answer. So just practice it as much as you can.
I hope this information helps you.
Good Luck!!
Organic chemistry is totally based on the learning of concepts. First of all you need to learn the name reactions, name reactions are just like the formulas in mathematics which can solve your multiple problems. In Organic Chemistry with similar name reactions a number of products can be made many times. You need to go through the mechanism and understand the mechanism so that you can understand the whole thing.
I would prefer you to stick with the basic one i.e. NCERT Textbooks Class XI & XII. There is no need to study hard level books now. First clear your concept with NCERTs.
After that you can go for some reference books like :-

Hello,
Constitutional isomers are those isomers which have the same molecular formula but different structural formula. It is because of the different arrangements of atoms present in the compound. Different arrangement of atoms gives these compound a different structure. This is the reason why these isomers are also called structural isomers. For example, Butane and Isobutane are constitutional isomers because they have the same molecular formula but different structural formulas.
Hope this helps!
Organic chemistry is a very scoring section of competitive entrance examinations since if your concepts are clear, you can almost attempt all the questions. You can refer to MTG NEET CHAMPION book for solving mcqs for practice.
