Hello,
Heptane has higher boiling point.
The boiling point of Heptane is 98 degree celsius. Heptane is straight chained hydrocarbon and has strong intermolecular force due to which it has higher boiling points.
2-Methylhexane is an isomer of Heptane. It can't be 1-Methylhexane but should be 2-Methylhexane as mentioned by you in question. 1-Methylhexane is Heptane only.
2-Methylhexane is an isomer and is also a branched hydrocarbon resulting in decrease of intermolecular force. So it has less boiling point than heptane.
Hope this was helpful
Dear Aspirant,
Never rely on just one book for preparation of exams like NEET. These exams need more then just one book as no book can completely contains the quality of questions which can be asked. I'd rather suggest you must take some coaching material of some institute alongside NCERT to get a variety of questions. You can check out NEET Knockout programme also. It contains all the material you need.
