Paediatrics
Hey there,
So you are looking for a college for MD in pediatrics, and have shortlisted two, Thanjavur and tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, India. Both colleges offer MD in pediatrics program according to sources Best college would be Tirunelveli Medical college as it has larger teaching faculty, this more number of patients and more exposure.
However, the best college depends upon your own requirements from the college like the distance from college to your hometown, exposure, better faculties, and hands on experience. Let's have a look on both colleges:
Thanjavur Medical College -
Established in 1959, has great ranking on collegedunia as top college in MD pediatrics, it too has good teaching faculty and thus can give you nice experience.
Tirunelveli Medical College -
Established in 1965, it is also ranked by many sites for MD in pediatrics, since it has larger teaching hospital which delivers large point, thus providing greater clinical exposure.
Concluding, you should consider factors like teaching environment, hospital management, special courses offered which you might be interested in and select college according to better clinical exposure.
Thankyou.
Hello dear candidate,
Summarising all the three colleges on different basis my advice is you should go for JNMC Belgaum.
As it has a good legacy, decent intake and strong clinical exposure as compared to others It is old and reputed, has a busy hospital for good practical experience, experienced teachers, active learning and reasonable fees as compared to other private colleges.
Thank you.
Hello,
Obtaining a seat in paediatrics at any AIIMS is extremely unlikely given a rank of 10,551 in the General category of the INI-CET May 2025. While more recent AIIMS campuses may have 200–300 students, paediatrics at prestigious AIIMS like Delhi used to close within the ranks of 18–50. It is advisable to think about other specialities or institutions where the cutoff is higher given your rank. To increase your chances of landing a postgraduate medical seat, actively participate in all counselling rounds, including mop-up rounds, and maintain flexibility in your options.
All the best.
For a career in Oncology, including pursuing a specialization like Radiation Oncology or Pediatric Oncology, here's a general path you can follow:
Internship Performance : Focus on excelling in your current internship. A good performance will strengthen your application for residency and future opportunities.
NEET PG Rank : To get into competitive specialties like Radiation Oncology or Pediatric Oncology, a high rank in NEET PG is crucial. Generally, a rank within the top 500-1000 is favorable for such specialties, though this can vary depending on the year and institute.
Specialty Choice :
In summary, if you're interested in Pediatric Oncology, you'll need to first complete a residency in Pediatrics. For Radiation Oncology, you can directly enter the specialty after your MBBS, but a high NEET PG rank will improve your chances of getting into a good program.
