DM Programs in Pathology:

  • Neuropathology: This specialization deals with the diagnosis of diseases of the nervous system by studying tissues from the brain and spinal cord.

  • Gastrointestinal Pathology: This program focuses on the diagnosis of diseases of the digestive system through microscopic examination of tissue samples.

  • Dermatopathology: This specialization deals with the diagnosis of skin diseases by examining biopsies under a microscope.

  • Renal Pathology: This program focuses on the study of kidney diseases through analysis of tissue samples.

  • Oral Pathology: This specialization deals with the diagnosis of oral diseases and abnormalities.

  • Autopsy Pathology: This program focuses on performing autopsies to determine the cause of death.

Fellowship Programs in Pathology: Fellowship programs are typically shorter-term (1-2 years) compared to DM programs (3 years) and often focus on a very specific subspecialty within pathology.

    • Cytopathology: This fellowship focuses on the diagnosis of diseases by examining cells obtained from various body fluids or tissues.

    • Molecular Pathology: This specialization deals with the use of molecular techniques to diagnose diseases.

    • Flow Cytometry: This fellowship focuses on the use of flow cytometry, a technique used to analyze cell characteristics, in the diagnosis of various diseases.

    • Immunohistochemistry: This specialization deals with the use of antibodies to identify specific proteins in tissues, which can be helpful in diagnosing diseases.

can i open my own pathology after completing msc microbiology of two years

shivamtrivedi0005 14th Sep, 2023

Hello aspirant,

In response to your question, I would want to let you know that after earning your Msc in Microbiology, you CAN create your OWN pathology lab. After earning your three-year MSc in Microbiology, you can open your own diagnostic laboratory.

You must also buy or rent the property where the pathology lab will be located in order to start your own business. The equipment that serves as the foundation for your services will thereafter require your attention. Finally, you will require a sizable amount of operating capital to cover expenses like overhead and salary costs.

Thank you

Hope it helps you
