Chances would be less to get a seat in Paediatrics with 8118 rank in the NEET PG exam. You can get admission in other medical specialties. Use the NEET PG College Predictor tool to check your admission chances in colleges and the medical specialties which you can get based on your rank

radiology vs pediatrics...plz explain pros and cons ...which is better earningwise?

Srijika Bhattacharyya 8th Feb, 2020
Hello,
Radiology is a specialisation in which you help in diagnosis and pediatrics is a specialisation in which you treat diseases in children.
Radiology:
Pros-
You have a basic idea about all diseases and you play a major role in diagnosis. Radiologists are required for diagnosis in every field be it medicine surgery obg pediatrics orthopaedics etc
Nowadays invasive radiology is a growing field where you can treat a patient without invasive surgery
Radiology pays more than pediatrics at least initially
There are no emergencies so you can have more time for family.
Cons-
If you like interaction with patients you will not be able to interact mostly.
It is easier to set up private practice in pediatrics than in radiology as machines cost a lot.
You must be good in physics as you have to understand the application of physics in the various medical devices.
You are exposed to harmful X rays. This is not major but you should not expose yourself for more than a particular number of hours.
Pediatrics-
Pros-
You get to deal with actual patients
Easy to set up private practice
Satisfaction of treating patients.
Cons-
Risk of getting diseases
Emergencies are common - may affect your personal life
Less money than radiology but more hours. However earnings increase with popularity and private practice
Ultimately the choice depends on which you like more analytical work reading X rays, ultrasound, CT scan making a diagnosis or actual interaction with patients and the satisfaction of treating them
It also depends on whether you are ready for a lot of emergencies or you want a laid back lifestyle.

Going by previous All India cut offs and your rank you may try for a seat in Sree Balaji Meidcal College and Hospital for a seat in MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. And for MD in Paediatrics, you can get a seat in Aarupadai Veedu Medical College. Now this is 2019 data and cut offs change every year depending on various factors such as no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, no.of Candidates qualified, difficulty of the exam, and no.of seats available for each specialisation. What is the possibility of getting M.D ( Medicine) or M.D (pediatrics) seat with the NEET PG SCORE 729 ( Rank 75093).

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 5th Feb, 2020

You  haven't mentioned your Category. This is important because the cut offs are different across Categories. Neverthless, this answer is being written assumed that you belong to General Category. Going by previous years cut offs and your rank, chances are less for both Pediatrics and General Medicine. Now this is 2019 data and cut offs change every year depending on various factors such as no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, no.of Candidates qualified, difficulty of the exam, and no.of seats available for each specialisation.
