Question : Select the option that expresses the given sentence in active voice. You will be given a ticket by the manager.
Option 1: A ticket will be given to you by the manager.
Option 2: The manager will give you a ticket.
Option 3: The ticket was given to you by the manager.
Option 4: The manager should give you a ticket.
Correct Answer: The manager will give you a ticket.
Solution : The second option is the correct answer.
Active voice emphasises the doer of the action, while passive voice emphasises the receiver. To convert passive to active, we make the subject perform the action and rephrase the verb.
The structure of the active voice in the case of the simple future tense is: "Singular subject + will + base form of the verb + object."
Therefore, the correct answer is: The manager will give you a ticket.
Question : The average age of four brothers is 24 years. If their father is included, the average is increased by 6 years. Find the age of the father (in years).
Option 1: 50 years
Option 2: 52 years
Option 3: 54 years
Option 4: 55 years
Correct Answer: 54 years
Solution : Given, The average age of four brothers is 24 years ⇒ Total age of four brothers = 24 × 4 = 96 Now, their father is included and the average is increased by 6 years ⇒ New Average = 24 + 6 = 30 years ⇒ Total age of four brothers + Age of father = 30 × 5 = 150 ⇒ 96 + Age of father = 150 $\therefore$ Age of father = 150 – 96 = 54 years Hence, the correct answer is 54 years.
