I am a commerce student and planning to do bc in any ai specialization but dont have any coding experience neither know it will I be able to survive there

SUKRITI GUPTA 1st May, 2025

It's completely understandable to feel apprehensive about pursuing a BCA with an AI specialization if you come from a commerce background and have no prior coding experience. However, it's definitely possible to not just survive but also thrive in such a program with the right mindset and approach.

Many students entering BCA programs, even those without a commerce background, often have limited or no prior coding knowledge. Universities offering these programs are typically aware of this and design their curriculum to introduce programming concepts from the basics. You'll likely start with fundamental programming languages and gradually progress to more complex topics relevant to AI.

Your commerce background can actually bring a unique perspective to the field of AI. AI isn't just about algorithms and code; it has significant applications in business, finance, marketing, and data analysis – areas where your understanding of commerce principles can be a real asset. As AI continues to integrate into various industries, professionals who can bridge the gap between the technical aspects of AI and business acumen will be highly valuable.

To succeed, you'll need to be prepared to put in extra effort, especially in the initial semesters. Be proactive in learning, don't hesitate to ask questions in class, and seek help from your professors or peers when you face difficulties. Utilize the resources provided by your institution, such as lab sessions, online learning platforms, and study groups. Building a strong foundation in programming is crucial, so dedicate time to practice coding regularly.

Consider starting to familiarize yourself with basic programming concepts and popular languages like Python through online tutorials or introductory courses even before your program begins. This can give you a head start and build your confidence. Remember that learning to code is a skill that develops over time with consistent effort and practice. Your determination and willingness to learn will be the most significant factors in your success. Embrace the challenge, stay focused, and leverage your unique background to excel in the field of AI.

My son studied in India upto 8th standard post that we moved to US and he continued his studies further. He is currently in 10th grade and we are planning to finish his 11th as well. Is it possible to get an admission for 12th class under CBSE next year back in India?

gopi 25th Apr, 2025

Hello Mr. Kamlesh Ajamere,

Your son can get admission in 12th grade under the CBSE board in India, but there are conditions.  CBSE does not normally allow direct admission in to Class 12, as students are generally expected to complete both Class 11 and Class 12 with the same school which is affiliated to CBSE.  However there are exceptional circumstances like cases of transfer from outside the country that may be considered, given sufficient documentation is provided.

For the process of admission, you will need:

  1. Transfer Certificate from the current school.
  2. Mark sheets of Class 10 and Class 11.
  3. A good reason for the transfer/demonstration of returning to India, as CBSE does not facilitate admission for those who are only travelling to India for a short vacation.
  4. The new CBSE school will need to complete their admission process, however this school should be aware of the admission (and willing to accept the admission) and seek CBSE approval for the their admission to Class 12.

Please ensure you contact the CBSE school where you will accept admission into to your son and discuss the process with plenty of advanced notice.
