Hi,
Here is the range of rank upto which you will have a 90% chance to be selected/recruited in a certain PSU :-
1. IOCL and BARC - upto 100 rank
2. GAIL - 50 rank
3. ONGC - 75 rank
4. HPCL and BPCL - 30-50 rank
5. PDIL and RITES - upto 150 rank.
All ranks are given for general category. It is difficult to predict for OBC and SC-ST category but for OBC you can multiply each of the ranks by 2 and for SC-ST, you can multiply by 5 to get a realistic view.
Hope this helps.
Dear aspirant,
As you have secured 1700 rank in me in gate examination so let me tell you that there are fare chances for you to get into these colleges which you have mentioned but there are other factors that needs to be considered like number of candidates appearing in the examination, number of vacant seats in college, previous years cut offs and difficulty level of the paper.
For more information you can check out the link given below-

Msc chemistry students have oppurtunity to get in prestigious PSU through GATE.some PSU's which offered vacancies to msc chemistry students are ONGC,IOCL,MRPL,MPECL,NFL.
The safe score to get call from the PSU's is AIR 500 in GATE.Note that IOCL does not recruit freshers they only recruit 2 year experience Candidates.Ntpc also recruits chemist with msc in chemistry but they have their own entrance exam followed by personal interview.
All the best!!
As you mentioned that your daughter has done her schooling from Karnataka (9,10,11,12 std) so you can get the home state quota . You have to show your 10th and 12th marksheet which will prove that you are eligible for the home state quota for Karnataka.
Although various factors are considered while deciding the cut offs like number of candidates appearing in the examination, number of vacant seats in college, previous years cut offs and difficulty level of the paper.

One of the way to get ino Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) jobs is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
In GATE exam candidates must have passed Graduation in Bachelor's or Master's in relevant field from a recognised Board.
There is no age limit for appearing for GATE exam. So, you can appear for GATE exam.
The point is that in interview you have to face the question why gap of 7 years and you must be prepared well for this question before itself with valid reason.
If you can crack GATE exam then you'll be eligible for PSUs if you meet the eligibility criteria.
