I am pursuing eco hons from mumbai university. they are giving me options in the final year in 3 subjects in which there is maths or research methodology which one should i take and which one will benefit me more in the future if i want a respected job or want to study abroad?

Arhana Chakraborty 15th Jun, 2022

See if you wish to go for the jobs then reading your core course well will be sufficient and having concepts regarding the Macroeconomics and Microeconomics will help you to get a job. Don't worry.

Now if you wish to go for further studies, then see both the courses can be beneficial. But as per my suggestions, taking Mathematics will be a better choice. The reason behind it is that if you have a good Mathematics skill then it can help your further studies as well as the entrance examination. Now when you will take admission in MSc/PhD/MA, you will get enough exposure to learn the research methodology. But having a good grasp on Mathematics, will help you to be a better candidate in the field. Now its your choice, choose the subject as per your interest.

In looking to join B.Tech AI/ML or AI/DS. Which university is best, Dr.MGR educational and research institue or Vels institue of science, technology and advanced studies?

Kushagra Singh 21st Jul, 2022

Hi,

Dr.MGR educational and research institute located in Chennai is one othe old college, established in year 1988. It is approved by UGC,Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India. It offers various courses on UG, PG, Ph.d and Diploma.

To get admission in to the college, one needs to get suitable rank in an entrance test MGR Engineering Entrance Examination (MGREEE

The courses it offers are B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MBBS, MDS and Ph.d. The fees for the first year is around 80000 INR. Since college is old, you will experience a decent college life with good placements.

Vels institute of science and technology is a private college established in year 1992. It is also located in Chennai and offers Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral courses.

The first year fees is around 2 Lakh INR. The placement records are decent and you will experience an average college life.

I will suggest you to go for Dr. MGR institute as it is a old college. It is also a private college but fees is very decent for the courses it offers.

As you are interested in B.Tech with Artificial Intelligence. It is available with computer science branch. The AI/ML branch is more focused machine learning and it's techniques while AI/DS is more focused on Data Science. Data science is somewhat more vast than machine learning as you will have statistics in depth on your mathematics syllabus. It is the branch for those interested to become a data scientist in future.

While Machine Learning involved one to understand many algorithms available inthe market. In this field, the mathematics do not have as much statistics as DS but logic building courses are included for understanding the algorithms.

I suggest you to go for one, which interest you more either statistics (DS) or algorithms (ML).

Thank you?
