what more courses should I do along with my b.tech aerospace degree to make my resume more attractive?

eeshaakula_9673611 Student Expert 22nd Jul, 2019

Hi!

I suggest you do the following!

  1. Join student organizations. You’d think getting the classwork and degree would be the major goal, but at  university the resources made available to us were much more important. Hands-on experience is pretty hard to get in class, even at a top school. Recruiters will be impressed if you have a project to talk about, especially if you try your hand at leadership.
  2. Grades matter but not as much as experience. Again, if you can keep your GPA and have project experience outside of class, getting into industry is a cakewalk.
  3. Get good at programming. The most popular languages in aerospace engineering to code in are MATLAB, Python, and C/C++. MATLAB is probably the one you’ll get the most experience in while doing class projects, but being able to teach yourself a language will be invaluable.
  4. If you can, do research. Asking to work with a professor and getting some original work done is an excellent way to build your scientific resume as well as all your trouble-shooting skills. If you want to go to graduate school, this is also highly recommended. I worked with two professors as an undergraduate and did an honors thesis at the end of the road that synthesized a lot of prior work. It helped me grow as an engineer and as a scientist and paved my way to grad school. (Also, bonus if you can get a paying gig.)
  5. Apply to internships every summer. Once you get your foot in the door of a company, you may find it’s a pipeline to a full-time position. Some top aerospace organizations that are really competitive are NASA Pathways (a co-op deal), SpaceX, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Aerospace Corporation, NASA JPL, and tons of smaller contracting companies. Find something, even if it’s a local company. The first internship is the hardest, and you’re a great candidate afterwards.
  6. Think about postgrad school. This is not required for most entry level positions, but depending on where you want to end up in the hierarchy you might find that research is your calling. If you want to enter on the job with more responsibility, a two-years M.S. program is worth it.

How write resume with job 2-3 gap year. gap bcoz heath problem.

Prince Student Expert 19th Jul, 2019

Hey Abhijit,

As you have mentioned that you had health as well as family problems for 3 years. You should give an more genuine answer as you can basically do anything for that. Yes 2-3 years gap is a big deal but it won't affect your employment unless you are not ready for job. Just focus on making your resume look more productive and less focused on the gap.

Best of luck

How crucial is academic gaps for mba fresher resume screening and shortlisting during placements?

Himanshu Student Expert 14th Jul, 2019

Hii,It does to a large extent. In many cases, the company will ask candidates to register on a portal that is either maintained by the company or handled by a third party test provider (for purposes of aptitude/psychometric testing). This makes it easy for the company to apply filters and see how many candidates are above a particular level. Depending on the requirement of the organization, if there are enough people above a good level, they will not really look at other candidates (unless of course, your placement team is competent enough and can fight for more shortlists).

The other way is the traditional sift-through-the-CV approach. In this case, it is more subjective and might give you a chance if you have something brilliant on your CV in addition to your academics. The academic block is pretty conspicuous and will almost definitely not be ignored by the company.

These theories hold true for the first few companies on campus though and the rest, in many cases tend to call almost all the applicants for a screening round (group discussion, case study, short interview). In that case, the second shortlist will mostly be a function of your performance in the screening round and your CV won’t matter (unless of course your CV is brilliant).

Having said everything though, placement processes are mostly random and you cannot possibly generalize/predict trends. So, it is best to prepare well, work hard on your CV and hope for the best. If you are sufficiently driven and have good communication skills but an average CV, you will most probably miss out on a few calls. But, you have to be good enough to convert the first call that you get. Funny things have happened during placements and you won’t want to be engulfed in so much negativity that you end up missing good opportunities.

Hope that helps.

I have given 12th compartmental exam .But the result had not come yet and there is some delay .Can a get CV Raman college .If yes then how?

Amy Student Expert 13th Jul, 2019
Hello,
Yes, you can get provisional admission. For that, you have to contact the college authorities of your situation. In most colleges like the kiit, they give provisional admission and you will have your name in the rolls till your marksheet comes, though you will not be allowed to attend classes. If it comes well, you will be allowed to attend classes like the normal students, if not, you will have to discontinue. Hope this helps!

If you wish to prepare you can make it to the preperation of Banks or IES or research work itself. It totally depends upon your own interests and no body can tell you that. So just prepare your own mind set and prepare for it. You need to check whats good n not and so go for it. good luck.

I have got 97033rank in jeemains can get CV Raman collage in CS Branch. Some body pls help

nimrat17799_9532496 Student Expert 22nd Jun, 2019
Hello,
As you have mentioned that your jee main cutoff rank is 97033 and you want to apply for cse in CV Ramam college. Let me tell you that your cutoff rank according to the college's cutoff rank is so high. So, your chance to get admission in this college is about negligible.
Whether you are an inhabitant of Odisha or other state , you can join CVRCE through JEE main rank .For your kind information ,the seats are not getting filled at private engineering colleges and if you visit the private engineering colleges ,then you can find the students having 100000 rank to 110000 rank approximately . Some outsider students having 4000050000 rank will be also found in our college.
But it will be very helpful for you if you download the cutoff rank of last year of our college ,then you can make a wise decision .

For furthermore information please go through the link given below :

I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.

Which collage should I take admission, Gurukul kangri or CV Raman collage of engineering?

Shivam bhardwaj Student Expert 28th Jul, 2019
Hello Shubham,
Both colleges are good. But if have to choose one, then you should go for a Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, as it is government college. And good in terms of placements and infrastructure.
Last decision is yours.
Good luck

I want to pursue my career in Finance{BBA} so which certificate should I add to my CV to make it effective

Sampriti Gupta Student Expert 24th Jul, 2019

If you are planning to make a career in management and looking for a certification course then you can do a course in Microsoft Excel. That's the prerequisite for any company to hire a management graduate and if you have a certification in that it would be really helpful. There are other things you can learn like analytics and different tools but it's not the right time to do that. Get certified in Excel first.
