Hello,
First of all you should pursue CAT only if you're interested in management studies and want to have a career in this field, the scope of opportunities in case of MBA is more with corporate sector or private sector to be more specific, though there are also opportunities in banking sectors pertaining to various posts, but other than this in general you only need graduation in any discipline from a recognized university if you want to appear for any government exams, of course there are also domain specific jobs, as you come from engineering background, you can appear for your domain in exams conducted by UPSC IES, SSC JE, RRB JE etc, the choice between banking or ssc cgl is more dependent on you, the level of banking exam is comparatively higher than ssc cgl, both the exams are equally popular, and in the recent times many engineering graduates too are appearing for the same and qualifying as well, you can appear for both, and banking exams will also be not tough for you, as you're an engineering student, evidently your quant and reasoning will be strong which is strong factor in qualifying exams, for ssc cgl also other than these subjects you're required to know about english, general awareness, and there are also skill tests conducted unlike in case of banking jobs, ssc cgl is conducted in four phases while banking exams are conducted in three phases only, hence you should choose as per your interest for specific job profile.
Preparation for any government exam is more dependent on your areas of interest especially pertaining to job profiles, and to a some extent the syllabus also matters, for instance if by RRB you meant Railway Recruitment Board then it does recruit on the basis of btech degree for JE post, other than this there are also posts based on the eligibility of graduation in any stream from a recognized university which is common posts in the sense any graduate can apply, however if you meant IBPS RRB then it does recruitment of office assistant and officers, it's pattern and syllabus is like any banking exam, speed and precision is very important in qualifying banking exam, also the level of banking exams are comparatively higher than that of SSC CGL, both the exams offer good posts as you must be aware that competition has changed drastically and it has increased a lot in the recent times, also the fact that many engineering graduates are qualifying both banking exams as well SSC CGL and also UPSC or state civil service exams, so you can take this as an example that you're also capable of qualifying the same, but then you have to analyze which job profile you find interesting, in ssc cgl there are field jobs as well as desk jobs, while in banking it's got more to do with dealing people, their queries, and taking care of other things as per instructions provided by higher authority.
Indian Railways declare lakhs of employment for graduates, 10+2 and candidates for the math proficiency pass every year. RRBs are required to employ all Group C (Technical and Non-Technical) vacancies with the responsibility of conducting recruitment. RRCs are entrusted with the task of administering Group D recruiting tests. There are 21 RRBs and 16 RRCs in total. The Civil Services and Engineering Services Exam (ESE) conducts recruitment to Category A and B positions in Indian Railways. IBPS PO's greatest advantage is that it serves as the screening mechanism for most Indian banks, though SBI PO is only considered to be the State Bank of India. Nonetheless, applicants who pass the SBI PO exam are given a better starting salary.
