You can like study totally free in nits /IITs but yes there are various scholarships or reimbursement provided by the colleges on the basis of family income. Because of this you have to pay a very little amount in course of 4 years.
For families whose income is below 5L per annum but greater than 1L they would get remission of 2/3 rd of their tuition fees.
For families whose family income is below 1 lakh per annum will get full remission of the tuition fees.
If these remissions are availed then cost comes down to 3-4 L in 4 years for 2/3 rd remission ones for for full remission ones it is around 2.5L to 3L.
Yes, you do have scholarships and aid on basis of merit, first year onwards at BITS Pilani and its Campuses at Goa and Hyderabad. BITS Pilani is the best Private Universities, having a somewhat high fee, jut you do get good concessions second year onward on the tuition fee, provided you secure atleast above 8.5+CGPA in your first year. Remember its tough to secure CGPA in BITS Pilani.
