As far as general science is concerned it is needed in most of the government entrance examinations, it is sort of a must for every government exam. To name a few examinations, general science is required for the UPSC, IRS exams and also if you are looking for government teaching jobs genral science is required as well. So these are only the few exams that i have mentioned here, but it is required in number of them, so you must have knowledge of general science if you want to get through these examinations. The eligibility criteria for studying Computer Science in the USA, you need to have passed your 10+2 with physics, chemistry, Mathematics at least to the level of calculus, Biology(not necessary) and English(compulsory). But you must have PCM in your result. 

After that, you need to appear for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). And according to TOEFL score you can apply for colleges in the US. For example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA requires a 9.0 score for admission in Computer Science Engineering.

Or you can give the SAT exam and And according to your SAT score you can apply for colleges in the US.
