Yes, however besides completing your coursework seriously and keeping a good CGPA you should also have developed good skills in modern technologies like Data Science, Mangement, Software and AI so that besides Core you can also appear for the Non Core Companies like TCS, PwC, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture and so on.
As far as Civil at IIEST is concerned, Core prospects are bleak. You do have few recruiters like Tata Projects, Bridge&Roof, L&T and Berger Paints coming every year and offering package ranging from 4-8 LPA. However you should also keep up with preparation for GATE and IES Exam. IIEST has a rising trend of students going for PSUs, moving abroad or to higher technical institutes in India like Top IITs or IISc Bangalore for higher studies. So you get an idea of the sea of opportunities at IIEST and the rich campus culture and peer environment.

It is very hard to say which one is better
NIT Durgapur has marginally bigger highest package and average package but IIEST has greater median package which is of greater value . Placement percentages are more or less same . IIEST just became an Indian institute under the central government in 2014 while NIT came under central goverment in early 2000s.
NIT DURGAPUR:
Placements: Almost 80-85 of the students are placed every year from mechanical engineering . The average salary package offered is about 6 to 7 LPA. This year, many automobile companies such as Hero, Bajaj, Mahindra, JCB and many others hired students from the branch.
Mechanical Engineering emerged to be the branch with the highest number of job offers.
IIEST SHIBPUR :
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering in Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology ,Shibpur has higher cutoff through JEE Main
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering in Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur has lower fees
if you go through a campus interviews details NIT is much better than IIEST (formerly known as BESUS ,Shibpur.)
But in research related domain IIEST is much ahead than NIT (DGP).
Still I would request you to do your own research based on parameters that are most important to you
