I think SRM and some other universities like KIIT, UPES, and many more, the main focus is to fill their seats regardless of any potential of candidates. Specially SRM will complete their admission processing before the 12th exam(most of the board). Now you can easily understand, what kind of candidate will take admissions, who are very clear about their potential is not even level of JEE main.

Hope you are doing great. We have this entrance exam for the SRM college that s SRMJEE and the performance in that will determine the seat in the institution. As we already know the cutoff will be based on the level of difficulty of the paper that  we get each year. And for the latest updated the cutoff range of SRMJEE is to score marks in a way that you should be ranking below some average of 8k-9k for the courses available there. For the automobile, Biotechnology and the Biomedical engineering one should be scoring a rank below 5k with marks of 230-250. And the cutoff will depend upon the course and the difficulty level.

SRM is one of the Best colleges for aerospace engineering. Aeronautics is a course which requires strong fundamentals and lots of hard work. The course is contains totally different subjects compared to any other course in engineering, so there is no “better” stream.

I’d suggest you to look out for facilities provided by the institute like labs and machinery. I did not mention faculty because teaching plays a very minor role for aeronautics, it is more of a self-study oriented subject. You’ll have to solve a lot of problems by referring various textbooks.

So make your decision by looking at the quality standards of the institute.
