iit jam books to read for mathematical statistics and I have just three months to prepare how can i prepare for it?

pri111nah 14th Nov, 2021

Hi,

My answer would be a BIG YES. You can crack IIT JAM in 3 months. If you remember all those stuffs that you studied in 1st and 2nd year then it should even take more less time.

“IIT JAM Success Mantra” that contains all the tips and tricks along with expert advice, book recommendations for various subjects, scopes after exam and complete self preparation guidance.

The most important thing that is needed for IIT JAM MA exam is really good knowledge of the basics.

For maximum of ones month, study the mathematics of +1 and +2. This will give you a strong foundation of really useful formulas.

Next thing you need to do is study Real analysis and Linear Algebra, most of the questions are from these two topics. Don't go for really fancy named books, they're not necessary for IITJAM. Stick to the books that are recommended in your college course, as they're made by keeping in mind about the topics and details that are actually needed .

Next go for functions of one and two variables as the questions from these topics are really easy. I'll suggest the book by Tom Apostol.

Then comes the most scoring topic - Differential Equations. You should be so thorough with this topic so that you can solve all problems without any sweat. Everyone will be able to solve Questions from this topic so you should be sure that you don't lose marks over here. Any book with basic Differential Equation is good.

Vector Calculus and Integration : most average student just leave this topic, as it takes a lot of time to solve. Practice them as much as you can , also visualization of the problem will be the key to solving them. I had studied this topic from the book named Calculus and Analytical Geometry by Thomas and Finney.

Hope this helps.

All the best.

How can i enter into data science career after my degree in BSC STATISTICS?

Vivek Kumar 9th Nov, 2021

Hi, the answer of your question is... YES.

First of all Data Analyst a career as a data analyst consists of transforming data into information that can be easily read, and which offers actionable insight into business decisions.

Things like Business intelligence tools are helpful and essentially supercharged spreadsheet tools made for this field. They allow for the organization, aggregation, and visualization of data in easy-to-use point-and-click dashboards, with no coding required.

Also other languages like R, Python and SQL are the range of tools supporting data scientists throughout their works.

Thank You.

b.a economics honours or b.sc statistics honours ? which is better ? which has good career options ? Im comfortable with both subjects . I can study study both the subjects and interested in both . please suggest

ANKITA SONI 31st Oct, 2021

Hello Buddy! Hope you're doing good.

For choosing between these two, your aptitude matters as Stats honours to be more mathematically rigorous than Economics Honours. So, if that’s fine then the problem of choice matters.

So you’ve choice between these options then Statistics is better than Economics because you can always switch from Statistics to Economics but vice-versa is difficult. Also, much of economics is now driven by Empirical work. So, knowledge of Advanced Stats will be better! Statistics training in Economics is still very limited. Also, if you don’t want to switch to Economics for higher studies then you could look at Actuaries where Statistics coursework will be handy. And data science boom implies that Statisticians will continue to rule the world. Hope this will help you.

ALL THE BEST! WORK HARD !!

Im comfortable with both statistics honours and economics honours . which should I choose now ? which is better option ?

Manav Peswani 31st Oct, 2021

Hi,

I hope you are doing well.

Both these courses are absolutely great and have some wonderful futuristic aspects in terms of education and placement opportunities as well.

You need to choose a area where you know that this is your interest and you can do very nicely in this area.

Because, a area which is chosen by our interest the results are always much better and great than the one’s who chose courses of their least interest.

I hope the above information helps.
All the very best

statistics honours or economics honours ? which is tougher and need more time ?

SREYASHI SEN 30th Oct, 2021

Hello,

If you enjoy working with numbers and want to learn more about statistics, consider getting a bachelor's degree in statistics. A bachelor's degree in economics is the way to go if you're interested in the subject.

After earning your undergraduate degree, you can pursue an MA, MBA, or PHD in statistics or economics.

When you finish your economics hons, you can pursue INDIAN ECONOMIC SERVICES, which have the same importance and respect as other IAS services.

In addition, data scientists are in high need right now, thus statistics majors are in high demand as well. Although no one can predict the future, economists are always in demand, especially during recessions.

I hope you find this material useful.

Regards.

What artificial intelligence need more statistics or electronics?

pri111nah 25th Oct, 2021

Hi,

Well AI is combination of both statistics as well as electronics. AI is a broad technology with many possible applications. It’s typically divided into special sub-branches.  Here’s a brief summary of each:

General problem solving: Problems with no known algorithmic solution. Problems with ambiguity and uncertainty.

Expert systems: Software that incorporates a knowledge base of rules, facts, and data derived from multiple individual experts. The knowledge base can be queried to solve problems, diagnose medical conditions, or provide advice.

Natural language processing (NLP): NLP is used to derive understanding from natural text. Voice recognition is a part of NLP. Language translation is an application.

Computer vision: Analyzing and understanding visual information (photos, video, etc.). Machine vision and facial recognition are examples. Used in self-driving cars and factory inspection.

Robotics: Making robots more intelligent, self-operating, adaptive, and more useful.

Games: AI is great at playing games. Computers already have been programmed to play and win at chess, poker, and Go.

Machine learning: Procedures to allow a computer to learn from data or other inputs and make sense of the results for application.  Neural networks make up the framework for machine learning.
