How do i apply for Surgeon after BHMS degree?

Ashish Kumar Verma 6th Apr, 2021

Hello Dear,

Yes, you can become a surgeon after BHMS and perform several surgeries as per AAYUSH guidelines. You can't be a Surgeon after completing BHMS because no MS is available but there we have MD(Hom) and Homeopathy is capable to cure a certain part of Surgical complications without surgery as you may heard of Gall and kidney stones, some derma, ortho and cancerous problems etc.  You can opt for an M.S. (Ayurveda) in related specialisations. After BAMS, you need to give AIAPGET exam and secure really good marks to secure a Surgery Seat. This way you get an MS(General Surgery) degree after studying for 3 years. There is NO Super specialization after MS Ayurved.

Good Luck

anirudha vats 19th Mar, 2021

Hi,

Well I think that you should give both cause you deciding to be a surgeon will be decided during the residency program. cK one measures your theoretical knowledge and the vs one measures your Practical knowledge. Giving both will be more important to apply for residency program in any hospital.

I hope this helps.

All the best.

Ronak Gala Student Expert 19th Jan, 2021

When you are preparing for national level competitive entrance examinations like NEET, you need to prepare yourself at your best. Consider each day as an important day, as per your mood and interest, set a plan in the morning itself that today I'll study physics or chemistry or biology and so on. Some body else making plans for you and you staying firm on it is a little difficult.

I would give you a link below, it is a knockout course to crack the NEET examination. It has quality video lectures from experts, doubts solving sessions, practice papers, sample testes and mock exams.

Is there any course other than mbbs or going through Neet examination to become surgeon.

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 18th Jan, 2021
Hi

Through Neet examination one can get admission in following courses:-

  • MBBS
  • BDS
  • Ayush courses like BHMS, BAMS etc
  • Veterinary i. e BVSc

States like Maharashtra also use neet for providing admission in BSC nursing etc.

But through non of these course you can directly become a surgeon on the completion of the course

This is because,

To become a surgeon you need to do MS i. e Masters in surgery which is a 3 year postgraduate program that you can get admission in after your MBBS.

Here's a brief of how you can become a surgeon :-

*First of all you need to do mbbs

*Admission in Mbbs is through NEET examination, So, along with your 10+2 keep preparing for Neet examination

* Pass your 12th with at least 50 % in aggregate of PCB ( in theory +practical) in 12th examination if you belong to general category , or at least 45% in aggregate of PCB if belongs to ph category or at least 40% in aggregate of PCB if belongs to Obc/ Sc /st to be eligible for neet.

*Appear for Neet examination and qualify it

*Then attend counselling and then on the basis of marks or Rank obtained by you in NEET examination you will get a seat for MBBS in a medical college

* After the completion of MBBS, you need to appear for PG entrance examination, currently, some of the PG entrance examinations include:-
-) Neet PG ,
-) AIIMS PG
-)PGIMER
-)JIPMER PG.
You can know about different PG entrance examination for MS at
https://dqxeclau.top/courses/ms-master-of-surgery

* if you clear PG entrance examination then to become a surgeon, you need to do MS i. e Master of surgery which is a 3year long course. After the completion of your MS you can practice as a surgeon.

* you can even go for super specialisation in surgery like M. Ch i. e Magister Chirurgiae, which is a three year long duration course and doctors with MCH are those who are the best paid.

Thank you
