Upto which rank in NEET MDS in Oral Surgery in your Institute last year admission was taken

Afreen 30th Jul, 2025

In India, admission to MDS in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (Oral Surgery) through NEET MDS varies significantly by college and quota (All India or State). Securing a seat in top government colleges like Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences or AIIMS often requires a very high rank, potentially within the top few hundred.

For instance, Government Dental College and Hospital Ahmedabad had a closing rank of 8 for MDS in Oral Surgery in 2024.

Other government colleges may accept ranks up to several thousand. Private and deemed universities typically have higher closing ranks, allowing admission even with ranks exceeding 1,000.

last year i didnt pay 2nd sem exam fees Bca because i had emergency surgery so the college cancelled my admission so now this year i went to college to take admission for same course Bca from 1st sem but they are saying now you are not allowed to same course Bca you can take other course

Devanshi Goyal 1st May, 2025

HELLO,

Since you missed paying the 2nd semester exam fees last year because of emergency surgery, the college canceled your BCA admission. Now when you went to take admission again in the same course (BCA), they are not allowing you. They are asking you to take a different course.

Why this is happening:

  • The college may have a rule that if a student’s admission is canceled once, they cannot take the same course again.

  • Their system or policy might block it.

What you can do:

  1. Explain your situation in writing  include your medical documents.

  2. Talk to the Principal or Head of Department  request them to allow you back in BCA.

  3. If the college is part of a university, go to the university office and ask for help.

I have critical heart problem where Ive had 3 major open heart surgeries in AIIMS since the age of 2 and its not curable. I have proper documents of every surgery and everything. Am I eligible for disability quota in jee mains and advance?

kumardurgesh1802 20th Feb, 2025

Hello there,

Yes, you may be eligible for the PwD (Persons with Disability) quota in JEE Mains and Advanced , but it depends on the percentage of disability mentioned in your disability certificate issued by a government-authorized medical board.

Here are the steps to Check Eligibility:

  1. Medical Certification – You need a valid disability certificate from a government hospital stating 40% or more disability to qualify for the PwD quota.

  2. Disability Criteria – Heart conditions are not explicitly listed under PwD categories in JEE, but if your condition significantly affects daily functioning, you may qualify.

  3. JEE Guidelines – The final decision will be based on the medical board assessment during JEE verification.

    Next steps you should do:
  • Get your disability certificate from a government medical board.
  • Check if it states 40% or more disability as per the RPwD Act, 2016 .
  • If eligible, select the PwD category while filling out the JEE form and upload the required documents.

It’s best to consult a government hospital or JEE helpline for confirmation based on your specific case.

Hello Himanshi,

Yes, after completing an M.Sc. in Cardiovascular Technology , you can assist surgeons during cardiovascular surgeries, but your role will be as a perfusionist or cardiovascular technologist , not as a primary surgical assistant.

Your Role in Surgery:

  1. Operating the heart-lung machine and monitoring blood circulation.
  2. Assisting in angioplasty, bypass surgeries, and valve replacements.
  3. Monitoring vital parameters during surgery.
  4. Providing technical support to surgeons and anesthetists.

    Limitations:
  • You cannot perform surgeries or make incisions like a surgeon.
  • To become a surgical first assistant , you would need additional training in surgical technology or a medical degree (MBBS + MS/MCh).
