Hi, I live in Karnatka, and my child studied here, but her birth place is of Tamil Nadu. If she want to pursue her Medicine at Tamil Nadu, will she eligible for any Private college if she score good marks in NEET. what is the procedure? Thanks

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 23rd Jun, 2020
Hello,

So, the procedure of NEET counseling in Tamil Nadu is given below.
Seats will be distributed on the basis of 15% All indiq quota and 85% state quota.

Admission to 15% AIQ seats
MCC to conduct counselling based on NEET scores in two rounds

Admission to 85% state quota seats
DME, TN organises seat allotment for admission to 85% state quota seats in MBBS and BDS colleges using NEET scores

Admission to Private colleges
NEET details will be used by DME, Tamil Nadu for admission to private medical & dental colleges

Here's the domicile eligibility criteria to claim seat under state quota.

  • One must be a bonafide resident of the state
  • Students who have completed their Class 6 to 12 from the schools located in the state, they should not submit the nativity certificate. Such aspirants need to produce their parents birth certificate, ration card, SSLC/10/12 certificate or No Graduate Certificate in case parents are not literate.
  • Applicants from other states and living in Tamil Nadu will not be considered as domicile candidates and can get admission under open category.
  • Students who are not the domicile of the state but have studied Class 6 to 12 in schools of the state will be considered for admission under open category.
  • Domicile of Tamil Nadu who have studied Class 6 to 12 partly or completely in other states must furnish the true copies of parents certificates as mentioned above.
  • It must be noted that permanent resident certificate will not be accepted instead of nativity certificate

Now, if your son will be able to score good score and rank in NEET then he will get college of his choice whether in all india quota or state quota.

I hope this helps.

Yash Dev Student Expert 25th May, 2020

Hello student cut off vary every year on various factors like the level of question in the entrance examination and total number of applicants in that examination so its difficult to predict the exact marks but as per previous year records aim for marks around 600 so that you can get a admission into government medical college.

For more updates refer to the link mentioned below - https://www.google.com/amp/s/medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-cutoff-tamil-nadu/amp

what is the cutoff mark required to get a seat in gov medical college in Tamil Nadu for ( OBC) last year?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 3rd Jul, 2020

In 2018 under State Quota, 373 marks secured a seat in Government Thoothukudi Medical College under BC Category. This is 2018 data and we do not have 2019 data yet. But in 2019 the individual colleges cut offs increased by 75-100 marks. So even if we assume it to be around 450-475, it still remains 2019 data and cut offs change every year. Cut offs change every year depending on various factors such as no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, no.of Candidates qualified, top NEET score and difficulty of the exam. So for a seat in a GMC of Tamilnadu with OBC reservation, you will still need 500 to be on a safer side. To help you with your NEET preparation, we have NEET Knockout packages that you can check at: https://learn.careers360.com/knockout-neet-may/. To help you during admission and counselling, we have https://dqxeclau.top/mbbs-companion. We have few tips for making your preparation effective:

Picking the Best Environment for you to study: This is important because you should feel secure and comfortable but not too comfortable where you might fall asleep.

Always reducing the visual distractions: Make sure you have nothing within your vicinity to distract you. Like keep your phone a side. Or sit away from the TV, Windows where you can see people.

Try to Eliminate Noise around you: If you are someone who can concentrate with music, make sure it is light music and nothing to distract you. It should increase your ability to concentrate and not distract you. If there is any noise that might distract you, use ear plugs or a fan. Trust me, if am being distracted by noise, I switch on the fan and it works.

Self talk to control Internal Distractions: When you are noticing that the mind is drifting aside, stop what you are upto and keep a checkmark on a piece of paper along with the time. Keep a track of these checkmarks and the timings. Talk to yourself that you understand you are being distracted but you also have to study. If it keeps bothering you, write down what is it that is bothering you and promise yourself that you will come back and look into that. Now that has been parked in the notebook, get back to studying.

if a student got 480 marks in NEET ,can he get a seat at Tirunelveli medical college in Tamil Nadu and he belongs to (OBC)

rajaman9300 Student Expert 30th Jun, 2020

It depends whether  you are going through All India Quota or State quota. If you have Tamil Nadu Domicile then you can choose 85% State quota and with this quota you can get this college, most probably as per last year cutoffs.

But in the case of All India quota, chances are dim or i will say minimal as last year the closing rank was around 12050.

All the best!!

by scoring 480 in NEET ,can student get a admission in government medical college in Tamil Nadu?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 30th Jun, 2020

You haven't mentioned your Category. Neverthless, in 2018, under State Quota, the cut offs for various Categories have been as follows:

General Category: 370: Rajah Mutiah Medical College

OBC: 357: Rajah Mutiah Medical College

SC: 239: Rajah Mutiah Medical College

ST: 184: Rajah Mutiah Medical College

Now this is 2018 data and cut offs change every year. Cut offs change every year depending on various factors such as no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, no.of Candidates qualified, top NEET score and difficulty of the exam. For a seat in any Government Medical College of Tamilnadu, you need to score atleast 50-75 marks more than those mentioned against your Category.  To help you with your NEET preparation, we have NEET Knockout packages that you can check at: https://learn.careers360.com/knockout-neet-may/. To help you during admission and counselling, we have https://dqxeclau.top/mbbs-companion.
