Textile Technology
Hi Sayan
GCETT, Behrampore is not suitable for Mechanical Engineering course as it has more exposure to Textile sector. You should go for another college.
All the Best. :)
whats you rank in wbjee?
hii
Through State Entrance Exam (UPSEE) Conducted by Uttar Pradesh Technical University you can get the admissin to this college.
there are various sub branches in this textile only while check the below link for various cut off in the branches

It varies Institute To Institute. Two Major Differences Are;
About course – Textile engineering is a branch of engineering where the principles of scientific techniques are utilized for manufacturing and development of several varieties of fabric. The main aim of this program is to design and control all aspects of textiles, its raw materials and the finished product. There are many several processes of spinning and fabric-forming stages coupled with the complexities of the finishing and colouration processes to the production of wide ranges of products. A student learns to examine the different groups of fibers that include natural, manufactured, and synthetic fibers. Students also gain good knowledge of various textile fibers. A textile chemist manages the processes of cleaning, dyeing and hence delivering a finished material. These days, textile chemists also learn the art of blending materials.Core subjects – The core subjects include the following:
Textile Fiber
Yarn Formation
Fabric Formation
Chemical processing of Textile
Textile Testing and instruments
Applied Mechanics
Statistics
Chemical Processing of Textiles Lab
Computer Application in Textiles
Design and Structure of Fabric
Instrumentation & Control
Information Technology in Textile
Values and Ethics in Profession
Textile Engineering
Textile Engineering is about designing and controlling all aspects of fiber, textile & apparel processes, products, and machinery. It includes research & development, manufacturing and merchandising. Textile Engineering combines the principles of engineering with specific knowledge of textile equipment and processes. This knowledge is then implemented for the processing and production of all kinds of textile fabric & yarns from textile fibres. Career paths in this domain include process engineering, R&D, production control, technical sales, quality control and corporate management.
Core Subjects of Textile Engineering
Textile Engineering is inclusive ofTextile Chemistry, Textile Engineering, Textile Production and Textile Technology. Have a look at the core subjects of Textile Engineering-
Textile Fibre
Chemical Processing of Textiles
Textile Testing & Instruments
Processing at Textile Lab
Computer Applications in Textiles
Design & Structure of Fabric
Hey dear with 30 score I would suggest you to try again next year
it would be difficult to get in reputed colleges.
so try again next year or else try in north Gujarat colleges in diu or gandhidham
Hi Abhisek,
I will provide you with some insights about both the colleges.
Serampore College is located in Serampore City, in West Bengal state, India. Established in 1818, it is the second oldest college in the country, and one of the oldest educational institutes in India that is still functional. The college consists of two entities: The theological faculty and a separate college with faculties of arts, science, commerce.
The University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata is a private university located in Action Area - III of New Town, Kolkata. It provides engineering, technological & management education. It was established in 2015 by IEM Trust, Act no.XXV and it is the third engineering institution founded by the IEM-UEM Group.
UEM Kolkata ranked no. 1 in whole India in NPTEL examination in September–October cycle of 2016 and received a "AAA" rating from NPTEL, IIT Madras. There were around 4 lacs registrations in that cycle. NPTEL is a project funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development which provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management and Humanities. This is a joint initiative by seven IITs and IISc Bangalore.
Serampore College doesn't provide technical courses like B.Tech in CSE, ECE, Mec etc. It provides Arts, Science and Commerce. On the other University of Engineering & Management (UEM) provides B.Tech CSE but not Textile technology. So if you want to pursue CSE opt for University of Engineering & Management (UEM).
The companies who recruited UEM students are:-
TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, WIPRO, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, PWC, Telecom Network Solution (TNS), Victory Metal Finishers, Jumio India Ltd, Francescan Solutions Pvt Ltd, Think & Learn (Byju’s Classes App), Ericsson, SAP Labs, ARW, Rothenberger, Lexmark, Abzooba, NRI Fintech, Spinks India Ltd, Collabera Solutions, Adroit Technologies, Sankalp Semiconductors, HRDL, Hind Rectifiers Ltd, iVeda, Era group, LabourNet, Keeves Technologies, Webspider, Netconnect, Grindmaster, Conveyor Ropeways, USTA Infinity, Brandmark Infrastructure, Zamil Infra, Hero Motocorp, Mphasis, J P Research.
Thank you and all the best for your future.
Hi Harish.
Last year the cut off for VJTI college through MHT-CET in the textile technology branch was a rank of 5588 and 133 marks.
It will be similar this year too. You might have a fair chance. You can check the detailed list for other branches and colleges using the link below.
