What are the best engineering colleges with good campusing of Computer science stream in West Bengal? Please mention the cut off also.

Debosmitha Bhattacharyya Student Expert 24th Feb, 2019

Hello Anupam,

In case you are opting for CSE or IT, I would suggest these three colleges ranked considering placements since the past few years -

  • Institute of Engineering and Management ( IEM).
  • Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT).
  • Techno India Salt Lake ( TISL).

IEM tops the list of best college due to following reasons -

  • Better Placements (Owing to placements in Sankalp, SAP labs etc.)
  • Better Peers (After JU, You will find the creamy layer of students here)
  • Better discipline (This might sound absurd but it is an important point)

Now, let me tell you that the last time I checked the closing rank of these colleges, the last closing rank was for TISL in IT branch at 7000. Needless to say, try getting a rank lower than 7000 to secure your seat any one of these three institutions for CS/IT.

Now, let's say you couldn’t score a good rank and still want to study CS/IT in West Bengal. For this case, I will give you the following list of colleges that you can go for -

  • Academy of Technology(AOT)- Hooghly
  • Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT) - Haldia
  • RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT) - Beliaghata
  • Netaji Subhash Engineering College (NSEC) - Garia
  • Techno India College of Technology(TICT) - Rajarhat

Hope this helps.

All the best!
