Hi Jacob,
Hope you’re doing well
You have chosen a great subject for your masters and IGNOU is quite known for this course. When it comes to exams, Ignou usually hold offline exams. Now that the pandemic situation has improved, exams will most likely be offline. However, you need to check with your respective department and teachers regarding the status of your time. One thing you should keep in mind is that with open learning courses, the marks are distributed in a strict manner. Philosophy is a difficult subject, so I suggest you to work hard and attend the classes of your university.
Wish you all the best!

Hello Aspirant
As you know, that due to COVID 19 situation, UGC have suggested colleges to cancel the exams of 1st and 2nd year students of graduation and evaluate them on internal assessment or any other way while for 3rd year, final year students, UGC have clarified that they will take exams of final year students of graduation so as for bsc too, 3rd year exams will happen, either online or offline or a mixture of both.
Be prepared for your exams if you are a final year student and if you are in 1st or 2nd year then most probably you'll be evaluated on internal assessment basis.
I hope this information is helpful for you.
UGC formed a committee to recommend how examinations can be conducted amidst this coronavirus crisis that has in a way crippled the education system of the country. Based on the recommendations received by the committee, the UGC has prepared a set of rules to conduct the UG and PG examinations to ensure the students do not lose a semester or a year. The same has been forwarded to the Vice-Chancellor of each University. TSCHE also conducted a meeting to discuss the rules and recommendations of UGC and came up with a set recommendation of which the highlights have been provided below -
Will reduce the duration of examination to 2 Hours from the existing 3 hours and along with it make subtle changes to the exam pattern yet covering the entire syllabus
Exams will be conducted only for the final semester UG/PG students along with the backlogs and exams for the intermediate semesters to be conducted in November/December or as and when the regular classes commence
Intermediate semester students will be promoted even if the students have backlogs
Conventional UG programme exams will be conducted in two sessions daily
Seminars, viva-voice, projects etc will be conducted in online mode
All the COVID-19 protective protocols to be followed strictly during examinations
The exams will be conducted from 20th June 2020 onwards desirably
The students who are in the intermediate semesters will be promoted to the next semester without taking into consideration the previous backlogs. However, it is important for the students to score a required credit in the examination which will be conducted by the Varsities. The decision has been taken by the varsity authorities in lieu of the Coronavirus Pandemic. As the exam will be conducted for only the final year students, it will be much easier to maintain Social Distancing in the exam hall.
This is the July 10 notification.
