what will be the future of APE GAS Engineers?

Saurabh 23rd Nov, 2019
In my view refrain from joining APE branches unless u have very very deep interest in the subject .
Now coming to APE gas , I think it's better to opt for chemical or APE upstream because in APE gas you will be taught around 50 percent petroleum and 50 percent chemical so you as a above average student which 80 percent of them are in college you will remain fit for nothing . Also for GATE exam you have to cover rest of the syllabus yourself . Also there are quite less vacancies around 2022 for petroleum general category as notified by ONGC so be prepared for getting rank in top 30. And only ONGC gives vacancy for petroleum engineering.
Now coming to placements of this particular branch in last batch (20142018) only 40/60 students are placed . Also in that, only 56 are placed in core and rest in IT companies with AVG package ranging from 2.8 to 3.5 lakhs per annum in costly metropolitan cities like Bangalore , Mumbai etc. Now you understand what is the current status . Highest in campus placement of APE gas was around 9 lakhs given to 1 student.
Also during placements you will sit with upstream and a few time with chemical ( refinery companies).
Now being one of the costliest institution in the country it will dig hole in yours parents pocket if u come from middle class family.
Refrain yourself from taking loan from this college because 80 percent chance is that you will end up screwing yourself as now intake is doubled around 120 , may be more for your batch but placement remain same. So consider above placement statistics out of 120 and find the probability.
So I have told you what I have perceived here . Rest you are wise enough for judging cost to benefit ratio.
This is the current scenario , when oil prices become much higher than now it may increase by max 1015 percent more in core in private sector , don't expect more intake in government.
So choose wisely.
All the best.

Difference between upstream and gas..

Mahaveer Student Expert 14th Sep, 2019

Dear aspirant,

Downstream (oil industry) ... The downstream part is the refining of oil raw petroleum and the handling and decontaminating of crude gaseous petrol, just as the showcasing and dissemination of items got from unrefined petroleum and flammable gas. The terms upstream and downstream oil and gas creation allude to an oil or gas organization's area in the production network. ... Upstream oil and gas generation is directed by organizations who distinguish, concentrate, or produce crude materials. Downstream oil and gas creation organizations are nearer to the end-client or purchaser. Upstream alludes to the material sources of info required for generation, while downstream is the far edge, where items get delivered and circulated. Upstream (oil industry) ... The upstream area incorporates scanning for potential underground or submerged raw petroleum and flammable gas fields, penetrating exploratory wells, and thusly boring and working the wells that recoup and bring the unrefined petroleum or crude gaseous petrol to the surface. The upstream oxygen sensor is arranged before the exhaust system while the downstream oxygen sensor is situated after the exhaust system. The upstream sensor screens the degree of contaminations in the motor's fumes and sends this data to the ECU that persistently alters the air-fuel proportion.

Sir , I am medical student. But I want to go into the research field(genetics and biotech.) After doing mbbs. Is it possible? What should Ido

Hey there,

I'm sure you must have heard about "The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)." The program enables recipients to undertake research for two months, and the students receive a token amount and a certificate on submission of a project report. It's a good idea to enroll yourself into this as it gives accreditation to your love for research. This can be done while you're a medical student.

After MBBS, Various institutes that offer research opportunities are ICMR(Indian Council for Medical Research), CIMAP, CCMB(Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology), St. John's Research institute. One can also join WHO. Many institutes like AIIMS, PGI, NIMHANS, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai (TIFR) offer a Ph.D. degree.

There are two ways to switch over to research leading to Ph.D. for meritorious MBBS graduates.

The main option is to get admission to a three-year medical postgraduate programme (MD or MS). Thereafter one can go for medical research leading to Ph.D.

Besides this, a few research institutions admit meritorious medical graduates directly for research programmes.

For example, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology under the Government of India functioning at Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram, offers major research programme in disease biology and molecular medicine as well as plant biotechnology and discovery.

First class (with 60 per cent marks) MBBS degree holders are also eligible for admission ( www.rgcb.res.in). This Ph.D. programme is affiliated to the University of Kerala.

Those having a valid research fellowship from UGC- CSIR or ICMR, category A of Department of Biotechnology are eligible to receive fellowships.

Medical Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Jawaharlal Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore provide research facilities leading to Ph.D.

For Nano medical science,

Meritorious MBBS graduates can opt M.Tech. programmes in medical nano technology or nano medical sciences. But limited opportunities are available for study. In Kerala, Amrita Centre for Nano Sciences under Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, conducts M.Tech. nano medical sciences. Total seats: 20. This programme is fully-funded by the Department of Science and Technology. Meritorious M.Sc., MBBS, B.Tech., M.Pharm. and BDS holders are eligible for admission.
Combined degree

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical Research under the University of Delhi offers M.Sc.-Ph.D. combined degree in biomedical sciences.
This is a four-year fulltime course. Those who have obtained bachelors degree in biomedical sciences, life sciences, zoology, botany, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, environmental biology, biotechnology, B.Pharm., MBBS, B.V.Sc. with 55 per cent marks are eligible for admission.

I hope this was helpful! All the very Best!
