The closing rank for Computer science engineering at VIT, Chennai will be around 14000 or less accordingly so, it is very difficult for you to get seat at Computer science engineering or just impossible and there will be a chance for only if there are availability of seats till the counseling reaches your rank which is 31,000 rank which is quite impossible as Computer science engineering is a very demanding branch and the seats gets filled far before 20,000 in phase 1 counseling as your rank is 31,000 it is very difficult for you to get seat in Computer science engineering at VIT Chennai.

VITEEE is an annual exam that is conducted for admission to various undergraduate courses offered by the four campuses of Vellore Institute of Technology(VIT) in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amravati. The mode of application is online and the exam will also be conducted in online mode from April 10 - 21.

As for your question, VIT counselling will be conducted in its four campuses - Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amravati.

Inorder to get in VIT premises you need to write the VITEEE exam based on the marks scored and rank only you will be able to take the admission in VIT. Eventhough backdoor is also there through mangement quota but for that fee structure will be higher. So better you should try with the front door only.

You can check current status of VITEEE 2018 COUNSELLING from it's official website.But as far as i know you will definitely get admission in CSE or ECE branch in Chennai campus in 5th category most probably and in BHOPAL and AP campuses too.

Since you got a very large rank in VITEEE it will be difficult for you to take admission in IT branch at Vellore, Chennai or Amravati campus but may be there will be some chances for you to take admission in Bhopal campus because phase 3 counselling will begin at Bhopal campus so, may be there you will get.
