Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore
Hii,
Depending on your future goals, you can choose between CS at VIT AP and ECE at VIT Vellore or Chennai. Numerous career options in IT, software, apps, and artificial intelligence (AI) are available to those with a strong interest in computer science (CS). Older, larger campuses with better facilities and more company visits for placements are VIT Vellore and Chennai. Since VIT AP is a more recent campus, fewer companies may be visiting it at the moment for placements. Choose CS at VIT AP if you enjoy computers, software, and coding. Choose ECE at VIT Vellore or Chennai if you enjoy electronics and want a vibrant campus environment. Both options may be beneficial, but consider your personal interests.
Here are the official websites for the VIT campuses you're interested in:
VIT Vellore: vit.ac.in (https://vit.ac.in/)
VIT Chennai: chennai.vit.ac.in (https://chennai.vit.ac.in/)
VIT AP: vitap.ac.in (https://www.vitap.ac.in/)
With 75% in 12th and 43% in JEE Mains, getting admission in VIT AP is possible because VIT mainly considers 12th marks for admission, especially if your JEE score is low. VIT has its own entrance exam (VITEEE) or direct admission based on board marks. You can also try other VIT campuses like VIT Vellore or VIT Chennai, where 12th percentage plays a big role. So yes, you have a good chance to get admission in VIT through your board marks.
Hello Devansh, With your VITEEE rank close to 42,000, it is very much possible for you to get CSE in VIT Vellore (CAT 1 or CAT 2) and possible for VIT AP contingent on the opening ranks for that year. CSE in VIT Vellore is very competitive, especially CAT 1, so it is more realistic to get a stream instead. VIT AP is growing, with areas of opportunity and growing, and better infrastructure than what was in the beginning. If you get CSE there as I indicated, the same thought process indicates that it is worth consideration.
Many students say to avoid VIT Bhopal due to it being new (less facilities) and less industry connections. It also does not compare, facility-wise and industry-wise, to VIT Vellore and VIT AP. However, getting CSE is most important and if everything else fails, braking VIT Bhopal is possible. My suggestion would be VIT Vellore (CAT 1 or CAT 2) if you got to sit for CSE or relevant stream. Otherwise, VIT AP is a strong second option. Avoid VIT Bhopal if you have better options.
Best of luck!
Hello there,
Based on your VITEEE 2025 rank of 76,000 and 64% in Class 12th , you are eligible for admission to VIT Bhopal , though not in the top-demand branches like Computer Science. Admission Possibility at VIT Bhopal
Expected closing ranks (approximate) for 2025:
Computer Science: 25,000 – 35,000
AI & ML: 30,000 – 40,000
ECE: 40,000 – 50,000
Mechanical: 50,000 – 60,000
Bioengineering: 55,000 – 65,000
Aerospace: 50,000 – 60,000
With a rank of 76,000, your chances are better for branches like Mechanical, Bioengineering, or Aerospace, likely under Category 4 or 5 (higher fee brackets). Fee Structure
VIT follows a category-wise system:
Category 1: Lowest fee, requires best rank (not possible in your case)
Category 2–5: Higher ranks accepted, but with higher tuition fees (up to Rs. 3.5 lakh/year)
You may fall under Category 4 or 5 depending on the branch. What You Should Do
Register and participate in the VIT counselling process.
Choose flexible branch options to increase your chances.
Keep documents like mark sheets, ID proof, and photos ready.
Consider VIT-AP or other campuses where cutoffs may be lower.
I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.
Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.
Though 33608 is a strong rank, your chances of getting Mechanical Engineering at VIT (Vellore) are uncertain and depend on your category, campus preference, and seat availability. It's recommended to explore your options across different campuses and categories during the counselling process . I am a VITIAN and your score may place you into VIT CHENNAI in category 1 or 2
With a VITEEE rank of 24,690, it is hard to get B.Tech Biotechnology at VIT Vellore because the cutoff is usually below 20,000. But you have a better chance at VIT Bhopal or VIT-AP campuses, where cutoffs are higher. You can also try through management quota, but fees may be more. It’s best to join counseling and apply to all VIT campuses and other colleges to increase your chances.

Hello Aspirant,
As an OBC student, VIT requires a minimum of 60 percent in aggregate in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) for admission to B.Tech programs even if you have written and passed VITEEE. Since you have 55 Weighted Percentage in PCM you may fail to meet the general eligibility criteria. However, you should check with the VIT admissions department to be sure, and see if there is any exemption for OBC or exceptional circumstances. With respect to your marksheet, if you filled out your form with CBSE details and now intend to submit your BOSSE marksheet, a discrepancy may arise. You should reach out to VIT's admission helpdesk directly, either by email or by phone, and explain to them your situation, and request a correction/explanation to your application. Making changes can be very sensitive, and the timeline may be a critical factor in this situation, but universities tend to be understanding if there is an early request made and you include a valid reason.
You can acquire Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at VIT Chennai if your VITEEE rank is 33,608, but only if you fall into one of the higher fee-paying groups, such as Category 4 or Category 5. At VIT Chennai, the anticipated cutoff for ECE is up to 45,000 for Category 5 and up to 38,000 for Category 4. You are qualified for ECE in Category 4 or 5 through counseling, but lower categories (1–3) are improbable at this level.
With a 22,000 rank in VITEEE and 70,000 rank in JEE Mains, you have a better chance of getting a good branch at VIT by paying their fees early. JOSAA counseling for JEE Mains might get you a seat, but your rank may only get you into lower NITs or IIITs, possibly with branches you may not prefer. If you want a good branch and college now, paying VIT fees is a safer option. Waiting for JOSAA is risky but can be tried if you want government college options.
