Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on successful completion of your VITEEE exam. In Chennai campus of VIT, their faculty, infrastructure is definitely on-par with Vellore campus. They follow One Entry and One Exit where students enter the university through VITEEE Examination and leave the university with a centralized placement system. When it comes to placement opportunities, all the four campuses have equal weightage. The campus infrastructure, placement opportunities, faculty, learning experience will surely not be compromised.

VIT Chennai also offers many specializations in CSE branch such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cyber Physical Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. These courses are future ready and have high placement opportunities. You can opt for the one you like from these specializations or opt for the core CSE branch.

The counselling for rank 1-20k has started today on the official website of Vellore institute of technology. During the procedure, candidates are required to fill at least 25 choices in order of their preferences. You can choose either of the campuses, courses and category for the fee. A seat would be allocated to you on that basis.

It is a very mere possibility that you wouldn't be allowed any seats as it is the first round for the counselling and currently all seats are available to be filled. However if you are not satisfied with the course alloted , then you may take part in next round too but by filling higher categories.

Hope you are doing well.According to your rank it is difficult for you to get CSE,IT or ECE in VIT Vellore or VIT Chennai.But you can try in VIT Bhopal and VIT AP.As per your rank you can get the following branches-

VIT Vellore

• Production and Industrial Engineering

VIT Chennai

• Fashion Technology

The merit list for VITEEE 2021 will be prepared based on the marks scored in the entrance examination. The scores are converted to percentile score normalising the marks based on the top score, least score, total number of candidates appeared, etc. A rank list is prepared based on the percentile scores of the candidate. The percentile scores are used to determine the rank. The admission is done based on the rank secured by the candidate. The highest marks you will be scoringin any of four attempts will be considered by the authorities, i.e. VIT university. And if you attempt only one exam from any of four sessions and you think that as your best score then no need to write again andthses marks will be considered by the authorities.

Most probably yes, in Second Category. Generally VIT doesn't disclose any cutoffs or any closing ranks for any particular branch but if you consider previous few year trends as per the Students review during counselling then it will be clear that first category will be over after 5200 rank for CSE(Vellore Campus).
