how much marks to get in WBJEE to get CSE branch???

Ashish Kumar Verma 20th Mar, 2021

Hello Dear,

There are many colleges under WBJEE. For Jadhavpur University you need to get a rank under 1500, If you are going for Electronics, CSE, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation etc., then you need a very decent score, your rank should be under 600–700. But, if you want to get in IT, Power, Printing, Construction -etc then scoring under 1200–1500 will be enough. Jadavpur University is a State University of West Bengal and thus the admission is done through WBJEE, Jadavpur university doesn’t take admissions through Jee Mains. Go through the below-provided link where you can check previous year cutoff rank for Jadavpur University:-

In WB JEE broucher, eligibility criteria says the candidate has to be Indian citizen. My son is a OCI card holder, but studied in WB from Class 3 to Class 12. Does it mean he is not eligible in WB JEE? If so what are other options to get admission in top ranking engineerig colleges? please advice

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 18th Mar, 2021

Hi

Yes, your son being oci is not eligible for WB JEE examination as to be eligible one must be Indian citizen, you can check the same at

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/wbjee-eligibility-criteria

You don't need to worry at all even if you are not eligible for wbee  you can  still get admission in top engineering college like NIT Trichy NIT Surathkal NIT Warangal NIT Rourkela and more by appearing in JEE Mains examination as oci holders are also eligible for jee main and you can have West Bengal as home state as well to avail home state quota if you have passed 12th from West Bengal.

To be eligible  for JEE mains 2021 for BE or Btech you should be either appearing for 12th board exam or equivalent  in 2021 or should have passed it in 2020 or 2019 with Physics,  mathematics and anyone of Chemistry or Biology or Biotechnology or Technical Vocational Subject.

Jee main application form for the April session will be tentatively released in the last week of March and that time you can also apply for May session. Though there will be opportunity to apply for May session exam separately after April session.

You can check the same on

My son is OCI card holder and studying in WB from Class 3 onwards and plans to continue studies atleast until class 12 in WB. Is he eligible for admission in IIT , WB JEE, NIT in general category ? I am confused after recent notification from MHA (March 2021 notification). please advice

Anurag Khanna 18th Mar, 2021

Hello Sir,

See if your son is an OCI card holder but have passed his class 12th from West Bengal then he will be eligible for Home state quota of West Bengal and he will be considered under General category as there is no any particular reservation for OCI/PIO candidates. As per the information brochure of JEE-Main 2021 released by National Testing Agency (NTA) "The State code of eligibility of OCI/PIO passing Class XII (or equivalent) examination in India is same as of Indian nationals. However, OCI/PIO passing the Class XII (or equivalent) examination from an institution abroad are eligible for Other State quota seats or All India quota seats (but NOT for Home State quota seats) in all NITs, IIEST and other-CFTIs".

For complete details about JEE-Main 2021 reservation criteria kindly check out the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-reservation-criteria

In WBJEE also there is no any reservation for PCI/PIO candidates, they have to take admission under General category.

Some insights of JEE-Main 2021 :-

> To qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate percentage criteria and also if you want to take admission into NITs, IIITs or CFTIs then you should pass in your class 12th. Because as per the latest announcement made by our Hon'ble Education minister Mr.Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, the 75% criteria has been removed for upcoming year 2021-22.

> Also from this year according to New Education Policy the JEE-Main examination will be conducted in English, Hindi and other regional languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Odia and Malayalam.

> In JEE-Main 2021 there will be total 90 question out of which you have to attempt only 75 (25 from each section) and there will be two sections for each subject, Section-A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)(20 compulsory questions) and Section-B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value (10 numerical based questions out of which only 5 are compulsory to be attempted).

> In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.

> All question will be of 4 marks and in MCQs there will be negative marking of (-1) on incorrect attempt.

This year JEE-Main is being conducted with slight changes in it's pattern and it's conduction and you can check out all the changes from the link given below :-

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!!

what would be an good option for me : whether to give wbjee exam/bitsat or jee mains as i have not prepared that well yet..!? bcz i have heard that bitsat/ wbjee both are somewhere easier than jee mains

chinchujoseph1993 15th Mar, 2021

Hello,

I would suggest that you sit for all the three exams. This is because, you never know which exam would have questions that you are familiar with and you know the answers to unless you attempt them. Doesn't matter if you have not prepared that well for JEE Mains, but still give the exam. What if by some luck the many questions are  asked from the topics you have prepared and you qualify it with a decent score, then You will have more options with JEE Mains in the JoSSA councelling.

SO appear for all the three and give it your best.

You still have time. Practice as many previous years papers as possible.

Good Luck

i have filled my wbjee application form as general catagory . i will get my obc in certificate in may . can i use it in wbjee counselling . and if i change the catgory to obc when the correction window opens and then if i failed to show the obc certificate in counselling ,what will happen ????

tiwaryamrendra100 15th Mar, 2021

Hello Priyangshu,

As you filled WBJEE form as General , so you will be considered as General candidate and rank according to your category.

If somehow you can able to correct your category and failed to show during counseling than you may get disqualified or your candidature will be invalid.
