However, certain types of domestic violence are acknowledged by the Indian judiciary and have been categorized as follows:

1. Dowry death

The most serious form of domestic violence that occurs in India is dowry death, in which a large number of women are slain every year in their married homes by their husbands and relatives as a result of their extortionate, egotistical demands for money.
