Based on your rank you have fewer chances of getting into NITs but you can very well try with your state quota which may be possible if your state has any lower ranked NITs. But you have a very good chance of pursuing B TECH from private colleges. You can prefer courses like metallurgical engineering, production engineering, instrument control engineering etc in your counselling process. All the best!!!
For National Institute of Technology (NIT) you must have cleared JEE Mains 2019 cutoff which was 74 percentile this year after which you are eligible for JoSAA counselling 2019 through which you can apply for NITs and IIITs. You can also predict your college with careers360 college predictor.

Yes you definitely can. If branch or location is not a concern you will get an NIT. You can try in North Eastern NITs too if you wait till the special rounds.
