With this rank you can get a decent branch in a nit or iiit. However, getting top branches in top NITs like MNNIT, Allahabad, NIT Warangal, Surathkal and Trichy and in some top IIITs. Although you might get a decent branch in NIT patna, hamirpur and in IIIT jabalpur but getting CS here will be difficult. If you want to go for CS than you can try for lower NITs. You also have the option of upgrading your branch after completing one year on your course.

First of all, allotment of seats through JosAA is done on the basis of CRL ( common rank list ) and not on the basis of Category rank.
If your rank is less than 40-50k, then there are chances that you might get a good branch in a good government college.
