There is not such fixed criteria for studying. See if your aim is to study across the Government Institutions like NIT / IIT / CFTI colleges then you should have the score range of more then 98+ percentile in the JEE mains and if you wish to get into the private engineering institute then you can go with this rank as well based upon the variation in the cuttoff.
