Correct Answer: 500 km

Solution : Let the distance between A and B be $4x$ km.
⇒ Distance covered with speed 5 km/hr = $\frac14 × 4x = x$
⇒ Time taken = $\frac{\text{distance}}{\text{speed}} = \frac{x}{5}$
⇒ Remaining distance $=4x - x = 3x$
⇒ Time taken = $\frac{\text{distance}}{\text{speed}} = \frac{3x}{15}$
⇒ Total time $=\frac{x}{5} + \frac{3x}{15}= \frac{3x+3x}{15}= \frac{6x}{15}=\frac{2x}{5}$
According to the question,
$\frac{2x}{5} = 50$
⇒ $x = 125$
$\therefore$ Total distance = $4x = 4 × 125= 500$ km
Hence, the correct answer is 500 km.
