S phase is also known as synthesis phase. In this phase, DNA replication occurs. DNA amount doubles but chromosome number is constant.



Suppose before S phase, chromosome number is 2n and DNA amount is 2c, after S phase -



Chromosome number - constant - 2n

DNA Amount - doubles - 4c
