Being a physics student, I may tell you some things about knowing about physics. But don't confine yourself. Explore.

I know some people are afraid of or just hate maths, but trust me, as you get into more and more advance physics, things will get more and more mathematical. So be sure to cover up any fear or hatred for maths.

Physics is a really vast field. Many subjects are fully independent fields of research. Quantum Mechanics, Astrophysics, Relativistic physics, solid state physics, plasma physics, cryophysics and so many more things. If you do want to get out of your syllabus and read some extra, be sure to focus on reading theory first and wait until the mathematics come to your level.

Coming back to the question.

Physics students are not required to be knowing everything. You can survive on basic knowledge and some extra of the field you like or aspire to go. Physics students should know physics, its history, philosophy and everyday application. Look around you: everything is working on physics. I personally believe that physics is the science of God. It is what makes the cosmos work. You are not required to be knowing politics, confining yourself to only physics is also not a good idea. Anyways, a bit of maths will not do any harm! I didn't wanted to extend the answer, but this question is a bit philosophical.

As a physics student, you should know one thing seriously. What is your purpose of study physics. Ask yourself: why physics? If you have a solid gut feeling for the subject, only then pursue it in higher study. For me, it is a refuge, where I can seek peace from the outside world of chaos, greed, inhumanity, and unrest. For you?

Chemistry is a broad subject.

If you are looking in a more general way
