Dear Student,

With the growing trend of fashion, the demand of courses in fashion designing has also increased. Today there are various Fashion Design courses at UG and PG levels to groom students according to the requirements of the fashion world. Students get to learn a lot more about fashion designing, textile industries, fashion management and other such things in depth.

Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Fashion Design courses

Colleges and various institutes has some eligibility criteria that students should follow if they want to apply for admissions in Fashion Design courses. Generally, most of the colleges follow the same eligibility criteria but they may differ from college to college.

Eligibility Criteria for UG Courses:

  • Students seeking admission in Fashion Designing courses at UG level must have passed their class 12th examination with not less than 50 per cent from a recognised board in India.
  • It is possible that they may have to appear for entrance exams like NID DAT, UCEED and NIFT.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Courses:

  • Students applying for PG courses in Fashion Designing must have passed bachelor’s programme in a related field with not less than 50 per cent from a recognised college/ university in India.
  • They may have to appear for entrance exams like IIAD, CEED, NID DAT and many others.

Eligibility for Diploma Courses:

  • For admission in Diploma courses, students must have completed 10+2 level from a recognised board in India with not less than 40 - 50 per cent.

    The international as well as domestic fashion markets have amplified which has opened many career choices for fashion design aspirants. Students who are able to successfully complete their courses in Fashion Design are recruited by international and domestic fashion brands and companies, magazines, big labels and can even start their own independent fashion business startup.

    Fashion Design is not only about fashionable clothes but also about textiles, fabrics, knitwear, interior designs, jewellery designs and many more. A fashion design student can become a fashion designer, consultant, entrepreneur to name a few.
    A graduate in Fashion Design can be recruited as designers for various brands, companies, and business houses. He/ she can even start his/ her own fashion venture and do it their own way. A B.Des Fashion Design is for those who are wanting to go for his/ her further studies and has a lot of specialisation options to pick and choose from. The global appeal of fashion can even push a Fashion Design student abroad easily.
