Each boiler shall be equipped with two safety valves for relieving the steam pressure. The diameter of the valve shall not be less than 19 mm. In steam systems, safety valves are typically used for boiler over pressure protection and other applications such as downstream of pressure reducing controls. Their primary role is for safety, safety valves are also used in process operations to prevent product damage due to excess pressure.
