hi,

see it does not matter which of the streams you may belongs to. if you have the skill needed for data science then you can be a data scientist. Its fine that at school level or bachelors level you did not study math or statistics. but there is several course in coursera, edx for beginners who are new in data science field. however it is always best if you have good concept on probability and statistics of primary level to begin your learning sessions of data science.

key skill to become a  data scientist is as follows:

Statistics.

At least one programming language – R/ Python.

Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading.

Data Wrangling and Data Exploration.

Machine Learning Algorithms.

Advanced Machine Learning (Deep Learning)

Big Data Processing Frameworks.

Data Visualization.
