Hello student yes you can pursue doctoral programme in a reputed college after clearing gate
Rank upto 1400 will help you to secure a seat in top Goverment college as NIT /IIT. And upto 2400will help you to get into private college.
Gate eligibility :-Candidates must have passed graduation in engineering/technology or Masters degree in any relevant science subject.

Yes,
.
After getting qualified in GATE, you are eligible for PHD.
But you should be eligible for the course you choose in PHD.
.
If you are choosing PHD in science your eligibility criteria will be like this,

Masters degree in science with 60%
Bachelor's degree in engineering/technology/design with 70%

and if you are going for PHD in engineering,

Masters degree in engineering or related courses with 60%
Bachelor's degree in related field with 70%

So,it varies from course to course you are willing to take in PHD.
So, please confirm that you are eligible based on the course eligibility mentioned..
