The admission process of Diploma in Electrical Engineering is mostly merit based, based on the Class 10 Board Exam. Many colleges offer a diploma in electrical engineering after 12th as well as after 10th. There are certain colleges that take in students based on entrance exams like Assam Polytechnic.

There are many colleges that provide polytechnic course on the basis of merit list i.e., your percentage in the 10th Boards. There are also many entrance exams for this course like - DCECE (Bihar), Delhi CET (Delhi), TS Plytechnic(Telangana),  Uttarakhand JEEP (Uttarakhand). You can apply for the exam according to your state or your suitable state.
