But there are certain prerequisites which are always needed before you go ahead.

There are several exams such as IELTS, TOEFL that one gives before going to check English competency.

Also in the States, all higher secondary students give an exam called SAT which is the score accepted in most colleges there.

Also you must start this process well in advance as our semester timeline and theirs differ well enough and it takes time depending the exams duration and timings during the year.

This is just a gist, but you can also apply for scholarships provided by various trusts and funds and govt of India.
