Hello Aaditya,
No, one cannot apply for IIST, Thiruvananthapuram on basis of merit in 10+2. The admission is based on merit in JEE advanced. A candidate must have appeared JEE main and JEE advanced. And this Institute has prescribed the cut off for admission. Only those who have secured the minimum cut off are eligible to apply and the cut off is as follows
  • General category- candidate must have atleast 20% aggregate in JEE advanced and minimum 5% aggregate in each subject in JEE advanced.
  • EWS/OBC-NCL- Candidate must have atleast 18% aggregate in JEE advanced and minimum of 4.5% aggregate in each subject in JEE advanced.
  • SC/ST/PwD- a candidate must have atleast 10% aggregate in JEE advanced and minimum of 2.5% aggregate in each subject in JEE adadvanced.
Apart from this a candidate must have passed 10+2 with atleast 75% aggregate (candidate belonging to general category) and 65% aggregate (candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD) with Mathematics, Physics, chemistry and any language from a recognised board or university.
