Yes ofcourse JEE mains is just for taking admission in iits and nits many engineering colleges have their own entrance examination so you can go to those colleges . Some entrance exams are
Wbjee
Viteee
Kiteee
Cusat
Bitsat

Yes you can .
But Today every college give admission on basis of JEE mains.
And some have their own entrance exams.
Like
BITSAT
VITEEE
SRM
MANIPAL
IPU CET
etc.
But you can take admission in state college and some other private college on basis of your 12 th marks.

Yeah surely you can do the engineering without the JEE mains also but you should get the good colleges other than NIT and IIT and IIIT ....
We are also having the other top colleges for that you should write that College or state entrance exam and get the good ranking then you will be enter in the college

Sir no need of any tension you are having the good knowledge and concept grip with NCERT books and also Reference books then you can crack any entrance exam and also you should refer previous year question papers and also watch the videos which are related with important topics
By following these all above things and with proper time table you will definitely you will crack any entrance exam
