Hi!

Yes, you can pursue an MBA from same IIT from where you have completed your BTech degree. However, in majority of cases you will have to appear for an entrance examination, known as CAT (Common Admission Test) conducted by the IIMs. However, some of the IITs exempt some candidates from appearing in the CAT. Given below is the institution wise exemption cases:

  • IIT Madras states that IIT Graduates who have obtained a CGPA of 8 and above on 10 are exempted from CAT score, and defense personnel are exempted from the national level entrance test. They should apply through respective government agencies.
  • IIT Roorkee states that JEE or JEE Advanced qualified IIT Graduates with CGPA 7 and above on a 10-point scale are exempted from CAT and are directly called for a Personal Interview.
