It is definitely a good exam to get into top public sector undertakings

One needs to get a good rank to get into psu's

Through a right preparation and strategy one can get a good rank in gate and get into psu's like ongc,iocl etc

I dont think it is possible but there are few PSUs which allows candidate to apply directly without Gate.
